Lindum Fire Services MD Tom Brookes, is taking up the position of Vice Chairman of the British Fire Consortium after a 25-year career in the fire industry.

He’ll represent fire protection companies at the highest levels in government, within British and European standards.

His career has also seen him serve as a technical advisor to the Fire Industries Association, the Electrical Contractors Association and the British Standards Institute.

He also played an active role in the development of City & Guilds’ 1853-03 NVQ Level 3 qualification and is the current Vice Chairman of the Fire and Security Association.

Graham Newman, President of the BFC, said: “Tom’s extensive industry experience and technical expertise will be a huge benefit to the BFC, our members and the industry we support.

“This is a crucial time for the fire industry, and I look forward to working with him to ensure the BFC continues to offer members the support they need to grow their businesses.

“Tom joined the BFC in 2004 and served on Ccuncil from 2008, before being unanimously elected to be the new chairman in October.

“Tom’s main area of interest is the alarm and emergency lighting and he is without doubt one of the most knowledgeable practitioners of this sector of our industry, in the country.”

Tom Brookes said: “The British Fire Consortium has been a tremendous source of support and advice to me and countless other businesses during a challenging time for the industry.

“I’m looking forward to working with all members of the BFC to help them expand and evolve its offering and to continue to ensure that members are in the best place possible to make the most of the upturn in the economy and the industry’s fortunes.”
