Thousands poured through the gates of Lincoln Castle on the first day of the city’s annual Christmas market.

As festivities got into full swing, the smell of mulled wine, sweet treats and crackling Bratwursts filled the air in the historic Cathedral Quarter of the city.

With an array of family entertainment, shopping opportunities and fun, the market is expected to welcome over 250,000 people over the four days.

On the evening of Thursday, December 1, visitors enjoyed an official opening ceremony at Lincoln Cathedral.
