A new 3,867 square metre Lidl store in North Hykeham is nearing completion and is anticipated to officially open in June, the discount supermarket has confirmed.

It is the third Lidl store in the Lincoln area joining supermarkets on Dixon Street and the Carlton Centre.

The store will also include around 113 parking spaces as well as create up to 38 jobs, joining other stores in the area such as Asda and Spar.

The supermarket is on the site of the former Ocean Chinese restaurant and takeaway. It received planning permission, despite local residents objections in July last year.

Work began to demolish the former Chinese restaurant in August, with construction having started in October.
