A man caught on CCTV picking up a television from the shelf at a Lincoln Aldi store and asking for a £329.99 refund has pleaded guilty to fraud.

South Yorkshire Police have charged Simon Porter, 42, with fraud offences, which took place in a number of locations including Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and West Yorkshire.

Porter walked into the supermarket on Wragby Road on January 2 and picked up a boxed television from the shop floor.

He then walked straight to one of the tills and asked the cashier for a refund without a receipt.

Porter then left the till to speak with the manager, shook his hand and returned to the cashier who believed permission had been given for a refund.

He received £329.99 and left the store.

Porter was bailed to appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on February 4 where he pleaded guilty.

He will appear in court on February 13 for sentencing.
