Rail commuters travelling between Lincoln and Retford, are facing disruption this morning due to a strike by guards and drivers.

Train operator Northern has announced it will be running a reduced service on Monday, March 13.

Northern Rail has arranged for replacement buses for its Lincoln to Retford service, which runs through Saxilby and Gainsborough.

It is operating around 40% of its usual weekday services across the north of England.

Some 2,000 Southern, Northern and Mersyrail workers are set to walk out today in a row over the role of guards and plans to use more driver only trains.

It will be the 30th 24-hour strike by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union.
