A prisoner has admitted possessing a psychoactive substance while being held at Lincoln’s Greetwell Road jail.

Jake Read, 23, pleaded guilty to having the legal high in his possession while in custody when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court by video link today.

The court heard Read, of no fixed address, was found with the substance after a search at HMP Lincoln on November 17 last year.

Grace Hale, defending, said Read was now an inmate at HMP Leicester after being recalled on his previous sentence.

Miss Hale told the hearing Read wished to be sentenced by video link rather than being brought to court in person.

Judge Michael Heath remanded Read back in to custody and adjourned sentence until Friday, May 5.
