A Lincoln police community support officer (PCSO) is urging people to apply for the role as Lincolnshire Police announces a hunt for 24 new PCSOs.

Gary Jacobs has been a PCSO in the city for six and a half years and believes that people should apply for the job.

A PCSO is a uniformed presence that deals with anti-social behaviour and offers reassurance to the public.

“It’s a great city with great people,” said Gary. “Working with the community, I have made many friends and contacts and people always stop and talk.

“I am quite often asked for my input into the local community, and when local events are going on, I am invited to attend. I get to mix with people that otherwise would not speak to police.

“I go into schools and meet the children giving them the opportunity to ask questions and to try on Police uniform and sit in Police cars.”
