A man from Lincoln who touched people from all over the world with blogs documenting his cancer battle has sadly died.

Simon Dayman, 35, started his online blog on Facebook Live just minutes after he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and given six months to live in November.

The former motivational speaker and DJ made an admirable pledge to ‘be positive’, and has been inspiring patients and supporters from all walks of life with his mission to ‘choose the day’.

Family photograph posted on Simon’s Facebook page just days before he passed away.

He has been keeping supporters updated on his condition with upbeat posts and has been regularly setting challenges through ‘Simon says’.

Wife Katie posted an update on his Facebook page on the morning of Thursday, July 13 to say that Simon had died in a hospice overnight and had faded away peacefully.

She said it was a “surreal time”, adding that she was grateful he had not been in any pain.

Katie, proud of his mission, said Simon’s videos inspired many people from different walks of life, adding: “His message of positive mental thinking is one we can continue to live with.”

“It’s a massive loss to the world and a huge gain for heaven.”

She added her thanks to all who had supported him and the family throughout, as well as all who had donated to an appeal set up for his son.

A touching film about Simon’s journey was made by Niall Conroy and posted onto  Vimeo.
