A dog walker has spoken out against flytippers in a Lincoln village after discovering a collection of dead pigeons dumped in a hedgerow.

The local resident, who wished not to be named, told The Lincolnite that around 20 bird carcasses were left on the corner of Newcot Lane in Heighington.

They said it isn’t the first time they have found birds dumped in the hedgerows, sometimes rotting in black bin liners.

“The area is notorious for fly-tipping”, the dog walker explained. “There were about 20 birds that had been emptied from a black bin bag.

“I would also like to say to all dog owners to pick up their mess! It’s a lovely area on the edge of Heighington. I would just like people to respect it more.”

North Kesteven District Council confirmed the birds had been reported to the council and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

They were removed on Monday, July 17.
