The team behind a new homemade, Italian gelato parlour in the centre of Lincoln are gearing up to open the doors to their first customers.

Gelato.Cool is undergoing final touches on the ground floor of the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, which will be open for business from 10am on Saturday, July 22.

On the menu will be homemade Italian gelato, fresh sorbet, sweets, savouries and a range of unique dishes.

For the first time in the city, customers will also be able to try a Gelato sandwich, made up of their favourite ice cream, slathered into a brioche bun.

The company is owned by brother and sister duo Mark Weston and Sara Calam. The pair have been producing authentic Italian gelato from their factory in north Lincoln for a year and supplying a number of local and national restaurants, bars and venues.

Mark said: “We make authentic Italian Gelato and we use authentic ingredients so you know there are no additives or preservatives. We make everything in house and we manufacture all our sorbets using fresh fruit.

“We really hope people like it. We have something on the menu for everyone, young and old, and the parlour has got a nice feel about it. People can come here, enjoy some quality ice cream and take in the view.

“Tomorrow it’s the Dragon Boat race taking place on the Brayford tomorrow which will be fantastic and we have some people abseiling down the building for LIVES charity too so it will be a busy day and we hope it proves a big hit.”
