Not every couple looking to tie the knot dream of their ceremony taking place in a Victorian prison, but one Lincoln bride and groom went all out to become the first people to marry at Lincoln Castle.

Jodie and Joe Parks were wed at the castle on July 21, with the ceremony itself taking place in the Victorian prison.

Take a look at some of their pictures from the venue:

Jodie told The Lincolnite: “I was a bit nervous at first as we were like the ‘guinea pigs’, but we couldn’t fault the castle at all.

“At first we were bit unsure about marrying in a Victorian prison but when we looked at it, it was a clean canvas and we could make it into anything we wanted.

“We didn’t really have a themed wedding, but without it sounding too cliche, it was a bit like a fairytale.

“As a little girl you dream about your wedding and I always wanted to get married in a castle and my dream came true! As well as having the ceremony at the castle, you can also have your reception there too and you also get full use of the castle grounds for your wedding photos.

“We didn’t really have a budget but not too expensive. Let’s say we didn’t spend that much considering, which was really good.”
