Rail passengers are being warned of ongoing delays on the Grimsby, Lincoln, Leicester route this lunchtime due to a broken down freight train.

East Midlands Trains reported at 11.49 am that the train had broken down near Newark Castle.

At the time of writing the train will need to be assisted by another train, which has now arrived on site.

Disruption between Lincoln Central and Nottingham

East Midlands Trains said: “At present all of our trains are unable to run between Lincoln and Newark Castle and this is affecting some of our trains between Nottingham and Lincoln.

“This disruption is expected to last until 12:35.”

The following rail replacement buses will run in place of cancelled trains:

  • 11:53 Newark Castle to Lincoln
  • 12:54 Newark Castle to Lincoln
  • 12:34 Lincoln to Newark Castle
