With A Level results day just around the corner, The Lincolnite has provided students and parents with a guide to what to do if the results are not quite what you were hoping for.

Results day is always a stressful experience, whoever you are. Many students here in Lincolnshire will of course do tremendously well but some naturally will get results which are slightly below their expectations.

The key message for students who underachieve is to not panic – there is plenty of advice and help out there.

In terms of practical suggestions, the first thing you should do is contact the university(ies) you have chosen and see if they will still accept you on the course for which you have an offer.

If the worst comes to the worst and the university is unable to offer you a place, again there is no need to be anxious, although this is a perfectly understandable feeling to have.

In this scenario, you will need to use Clearing.

You should have a look on the UCAS website which you can access here, where you will be able to find all the information you need to help you through this process.

Of course, there are other alternatives to university if you decide to reconsider your plans.

Information on apprenticeships and traineeships can be found here.

The National Careers Service has a range of information, again which can be seen on their website here.

You can call the telephone helpline service on 0800 100 900 if you want to speak to someone about the options available to you.
