There’s just one month to go for people in the North Kesteven area to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond for local environment, arts, sport or community.

In less than two months time, North Kesteven District Council will celebrate unsung heroes who work quietly, tirelessly and voluntarily in the district, at an awards event at The Venue in Navenby.

NKDC hopes to attract a broad range of nominations to showcase the level of unsung local heroism, and that can only be done through your nominations.

Last year’s Contribution to Sport winner, Angela Morley said: “Winning the Community Champion award was a great honour as I feel that everyone who volunteers their time to any organisation does so, as they have a passion for that cause.

“Since winning the award it has showcased our organisation and the different level of sports that we are developing across Lincolnshire, we are networking more with other organisations to try to include all abilities. The number of athletes and families across Lincolnshire who are now signing up to our organisation has increased over the year.

“Community Champions is a fantastic idea to encourage people to volunteer and also increase awareness of the charities and community organisations that are across Lincolnshire. So I would encourage anyone to nominate somebody within their organisation for the various awards on offer to celebrate the good work we are all doing”.

In the year since winning the award, Angela continues to support Special Olympics Lincolnshire, and has had an extremely busy one – preparing a team of 17 athletes and 9 volunteers who will be representing the Special Olympics East Midlands 161 team to attend the Special Olympics National Games in Sheffield August 7 – 12 2017.

People can nominate anyone living, working and carrying out their voluntary community work within North Kesteven within the eight categories:
