Over 500 items donated to food banks by Lincoln council staff

The donations will be collected later this week.

City of Lincoln Council staff have donated over 500 food items to the city’s food banks and community larders.

Members of staff took part in a dress down day which was held at City Hall, Hamilton House and the Sleaford offices on Friday, August 4 where £100 was also raised for the food banks.

Mayor of Lincoln Chris Burke, said: “This is fantastic! Now that I’ve seen how much food has been donated, I’m completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the staff at the council.”

“I chose to help the food banks this year as Mayor because it’s a local charity that is close to my heart, and I know that a donation as large as this will make a massive difference to people in Lincoln who may not be able to afford to feed themselves and their families.

“Anyone who has contributed to this event should feel really proud of themselves.”

The food donation of tins, jars, boxed and packets will be collected by Lincoln Food Bank and Lincoln Community Larder later this week.
