A fleet of police vehicles rushed to Long Leys Road in Lincoln in the early hours of the morning and arrested a local man after reports of an incident.
The force received reports at around 6.30am on Tuesday, August 22 that a vehicle was being attacked in the area.
Officers conducted a search and arrested a 35-year-old local man on suspicion of theft of fuel from Mawers Farm and of theft of a white Carrera racing bike.
An eyewitness said roughly ten police vehicles were parked on Long Leys Road adjacent to the West Common and officers were also in the common itself.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We would like to ask anyone who was in the area at the time and has seen a white male described as skinny wearing high visibility trousers with stripes down the legs, to contact us.
“We also would like anyone who is missing a white Carrer racing bike and lives in the Longs Leys Road / Albion Crescent area.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 49.
“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously at crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.”
