New ice rink and winter wonderland coming to Lincoln this December

A 100 metre square synthetic ice rink will be in place on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3.

Visitors to Boultham Park in Lincoln will have the chance to get their skates on and enjoy a special winter wonderland for one weekend only this December.

A 100 metre square synthetic ice rink will be in place on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3.

Saturday’s entertainment will also feature a Victorian-themed event with crafts stalls, a selfie booth, delicious foodie treats, games and a chance to visit Santa in his pop-up grotto.

It will be the first large event in celebration of the completion of a £4 million project to  revamp the park to include a new cafe and education centre, as well as a host of other features.

Caroline Wallis, Community Development Worker for the Boultham Park Restoration Project, said: “We are so excited to be bringing an ice rink to Boultham Park this Christmas!

“This will be our first large event following the completion of the construction phase of the restoration project and we’d love to welcome everyone to the newly restored park for this fabulously festive weekend.

“We are also thrilled to have Anglian Water on board as sponsor of the rink. A major employer in Lincoln, we really value their support of our event and we’re proud to help promote their water saving message by using a synthetic ice rink.”

Tickets for the synthetic ice rink will cost £5 per person. Tickets include a thirty minute session, including skate hire.

Ticket sales open on Thursday, November 2 at 9am. To book a 30 minute slot, people need to call the city council’s customer services team on 01522 873255.

All money raised through the sale of tickets for the ice rink will go towards the Boultham Park Restoration Project Capital Appeal.

News of the ice rink will be particularly welcomed by fans of the annual Lincoln Ice Rink, which usually opens on City Square for the Christmas period but was cancelled in 2017.
