Lincoln City to become first team outside of the Premier League to have poppy pin badges

5,020 badges are available.

All 20 Premier League teams and Lincoln City are to have their own bespoke poppy pin badges, which will raise money for The Royal British Legion ahead of Remembrance Day.

Previously it was only teams in England’s top tier that would have the badges made, however Lincoln City will be flying the flag for the Football League with their very own.

Some 5,020 Lincoln City poppy pins will be on sale for £3 at the club shop and Burton Road Post Office, with all proceeds going to charity.

Jo Ticehurst, a community fundraiser for The Royal British Legion, admitted she had be pressuring the charity to allow the other 72 league teams to have their own poppy badge and they have agreed to trial it with Lincoln City.

“We’re now in a very happy position,” said Jo to The Lincolnite. “The Royal British Legion have always been in close contact with the club.”

The Royal British Legion will be raising money at the Lincoln City vs Crawley Town match at Sincil Bank on October 28 where there will be military personal from RAF Scampton, RAF Digby and the Royal Logistic Corps from Lincoln.

Furthermore, people in Lincoln will also be able to give money to the charity via contactless payment for the first time.
