Lincoln GP surgery saved from closure threat following consultation

The consultation found that both surgeries were needed to ‘best support patients’.

A Lincoln GP surgery has secured its future following a consultation by Lincolnshire West CCG.

Cliff House Medical Practice on Gresham Street will remain open following a procurement process for the practice that could have seen the closure of the site and relocation of services.

As previously reported, proposals suggested that services currently provided at the Gresham Street branch site would have been moved to the Cliff House Medical Practice site on Burton Road under a new provider.

However, the consultation found that both surgeries were needed to ‘best support patients’.

Sarah-Jane Mills, chief operating officer at Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We have held extensive consultation exercises with a number of patients of Cliff House Medical Practice who attend both the Burton Road site and the Gresham Street surgery.

“The feedback from our meetings and information submitted through our online survey highlighted that providing services from both Burton Road and Gresham Street surgeries would best support patients to have a continuity of care.

“It was evident that patients valued the relationship with a local practice and provided a number of suggestions on how we can further enhance this. All this information has been utilised to support the development of the specification for the services that we are now seeking to procure.

“The procurement process for GP service provision at both sites has begun and if we are in a position to award a contract, we hope it will come into effect from April 1, 2018.”
