Labour’s Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell laid out his party’s vision for public ownership when he delivered a speech in Lincoln on Saturday, November 11.

Labour’s Regional Economic Conference was held at Bishop Grosseteste University and formed part of a series of conferenced that the Shadow Treasury  team are holding across the country.

“We’re discussing how we will end privatisation”, he said addressing the crowd. “How do we stop it? We’ll look at the details on how we take things back on rail, Royal Mail and water in particular.

“We also want to talk about the alternatives to public ownership too and common ownership.”

The conference also marked the 800th anniversary of the Charter of the Forest.
