Electric repair works set for two nights on Silver Street

Two nights of road closures.

Western Power Distribution will close Silver Street in Lincoln for two nights for repairs to an underground electricity cable.

Silver Street will be closed at the junction with Free School Lane between 8pm and 6am on Wednesday and Thursday, February 21 and 22.

The work involves digging and permanently repairing a faulty cable which supplies electricity to some local businesses in the area.

The road closures will affect Silver Street at the Free School Lane junction, Mint Street, Mint Lane, Bank Street and Free School Lane, as well as a section of Saltergate and St Swithins Square.

A diversion will be in place around Wigford Way and St Mary’s Street during these times.

Power supplies should not be affected while the work is taking place.

David Naunton from Western Power Distribution said: “The work is necessary for us to maintain the security of electricity supplies in the area.

“We’ve been liaising with Lincolnshire Highways to agree the times of our work. We’ll also be writing to advise local homes and businesses affected.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this work may cause.”
