Four arrested in Portland Street weapons investigation

Five arrested.

A total of four people were arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons after armed police swooped on the Portland Street area of Lincoln.

As reported previously, armed officers, dog units and underwater search teams descended on the area on Saturday February 10 after residents reported several men with weapons.

Divers searched Sincil Drain for possible discarded evidence on Sunday morning.

As of the afternoon of Monday, February 12, police had arrested three men in their 30s and one in his 40s.

The four men have been released on bail for affray, possession of a weapon in a public place and threatening behaviour.

Police could not disclose weapons recovered as part of the investigation when approached by The Lincolnite.

Later update: The initial version of this story mentioned five people were arrested in this incident. Lincolnshire Police later clarified that it was only four people who were arrested.
