Tributes after sudden death of senior Lincoln village GP

“I owe him so much”

Colleagues and patients have paid tribute to a senior GP at a Lincoln village health centre after his sudden and unexpected death this week.

Doctor Mark Howard, who worked as senior partner at the Welton Family Health Centre for 17 years, passed away at home on Thursday, February 22.

The practice and Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group issued a statement following the news:

“We are extremely sad and shocked to announce that Doctor Mark Howard, who worked as senior partner at Welton Family Health Centre, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, February 22.

“Dr Howard had been a GP at Welton Family Health Centre for 17 years.

“He was dedicated to the practice and patients and was instrumental in the development of the practice and local federation, striving for the best possible care for patients.

“Dr Howard was a wonderful colleague and friend with an infectious laugh and a kind word for everyone he met.

“He will be greatly missed by us all and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with his family at this sad time.”

Patients also took to social media to express their sadness and support for his family. Sue Grant posted on the centre’s Facebook page: “Such sad news. Thinking of Dr Howard’s family, friends and work colleagues. RIP Dr Howard, thank you for looking after me and my family for the last 17 years. You will be missed.”

Sharron Stonell said: “How very sad to hear this. I often saw Dr Howard. He always helped me and was always kind and respectful. Sincere condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Patient Mel Cudbertson also posted: “This man was an incredible doctor and the only doctor that really took the time to help me. I owe him so much.

“Sending love to his family and the people who worked with him.
