Want to have your work published in The Lincolnite? Here’s how you can contribute:

— Write about something important to you, which will be read by several thousand people in Lincoln. Here’s a quick guide on writing for the Comment section:

Subject: Your article should be original, concise and precise in its argument, and on a Lincoln-related topic. We do not accept articles published elsewhere;

Title: Suggest a title for the piece that sums up the main thesis of your article;

Bio: Include your preferred two-sentence biography to go at the top of the article;

Length: 400-600 words is ideal, although we can take longer articles if necessary;

Hyperlinks: Try to find some links to accompany any facts or statistics you refer to;

Picture: Feel free to send a photo of yourself to accompany the article, and one or two pictures for the text if they add something to it;

Format: The ideal way to send them to us is as a Microsoft Word document, with the links pasted within the article but not embedded;

Time: We strive to publish time-sensitive articles straight away but we will try to prioritise them, timeless articles may have to wait a little longer;

Publishing: We can’t decide whether we can publish your article until we’ve seen the finished product; we try to keep time in-between articles from the same author;

Comments: Try to take time to respond to any inquiring comments readers make.

Send your column or any enquiries to comment@thelincolnite.co.uk

— We are looking for volunteers to join our network of local correspondents.

You can write factual articles about what’s happening at your residents’ association meetings, issues affecting your community, or any other relevant local topics.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t written before; we have the expertise to put you on your feet and keep up to date the Lincoln community.

If writing is not your forte, but you like to take photos, shoot videos or record interviews, your skills and passion are needed to accompany our reports.
