Nine house burglaries have been reported in Lincoln this week, which Lincolnshire Police are highlighting as part of their Help Yourself campaign.
Police say many burglaries happen due to unsecured premises, open windows or unlocked doors, and for a month the force is releasing regular details of burglaries in the city to raise awareness.
Between Monday, August 4, and 10am on Friday, August 8, nine burglaries have been reported. Five were due to insecurity, while four were using forced entry.
Laptops, jewellery, wallets and TVs were taken in the burglaries, while in some cases, it’s unclear if anything was stolen.
The burglaries reported are:
Bank Street – forced entry
Front door of the property is believed to have been forced to gain entry sometime between 17:00 and 18:25 on Sunday 3rd August. Not clear what, if anything, was taken. Incident 248 of 04/08/2014
Norris Street – Insecurity
Thought to have happened during the morning of Sunday 3rd of August after a rear door was left unlocked. A laptop was stolen from the property. Incident 252 of 04/08/2014
Toronto Street – Insecurity
Offender or offenders believed to have gained access via an insecure rear door overnight on Saturday 5th of July. Two hard rives, a pocket watch and a wallet were taken. Incident 202 of 05/08/2014
Carholme Road – Forced entry
At around 18:00 it is believed that entry was gained to the property by forcing a front door. A laptop, DVD player, Playstation and a quantity of jewellery were taken. Incident 367 of 05/08/2014)
Coult Avenue – Insecurity
At around 04:10 on Wednesday 6th August a householder was woken by a male intruder in their home. The victim shouted at the man and he ran from the property, nothing was taken. It is thought that the offender gained access to the property via an insecure rear door. Incident 50 of 06/08/2014
Bristol Drive – Insecurity
Sometime between 09:30 and 15:00 on Wednesday 6th August an offender or offenders is believed to have accessed the property through either front or rear doors, which were both left unlocked while the householder was at home. A wallet was stolen. Incident 158 of 07/08/2014
Chelmsford Street – Forced entry
Thought to have occurred sometime since early June as occupant has been away. Entry gained by forcing a rear door and a laptop and clothes were taken. Incident 259 of 07/08/2014
Greetwell Gate – Forced entry
Sometime between 08:40 and 18:15 on Thursday 7th August an offender is believed to have forced the front door of the property to gain access. An untidy search was carried out and a laptop, TV, jewellery, and jar of cash were stolen. Incident 259 of 07/08/2014
Dore Avenue – Insecurity
Believed to have happened around 11pm on Thursday 7th August. A rear ground floor was left unlocked and a key left in the lock. Offender removed the key and locked the door from the outside, taking the key with them. Nothing else is thought to have been stolen. Incident 556 of 07/08/2014
