Members of the Save Lincolnshire Libraries campaign visited the Houses of Parliament to meet MPs supporting their protest.

A team travelled to London on April 8 to try and meet with MPs from across the country who agree with their campaign to stop the closure of over 30 libraries in Lincolnshire.

As previously reported, Lincolnshire County Council decided to cut a number of libraries in the county in favour of community hubs in order to save £1.7 million a year.

The plans would lead to over 170 job loses as a result.

At present, a Judicial Review of the plans requested by a Lincoln member of the campaign, Simon Draper, has been granted.

So far, the team have managed to meet Shadow Media Minister Helen Goodman, Labour MP for West Ham Lyn Brown, a representative of North West Cambridgeshire Shailesh Vara MP, Shadow Local Government Minister Andy Sawford and Labour MP for Middlesbrough Tom Blenkinsop.

The group also visited Downing Street in order to give Prime Minister David Cameron a book of over 900 comments from the Save Lincolnshire Libraries petition — 3% of the comments received on the petition.

You can follow the groups efforts to meet with ministers in London by following the Twitter hashtag #lobby4libraries or following the Save Lincolnshire Libraries Twitter account.
