Most Lincoln residents are probably aware that the city hosts a cycle race every year.
However, not everyone is aware that it’s a premier professional event on the British cycling calendar and one that’s highly respected by the riders.
The race is run over 11 laps of a circuit that includes Lincoln’s uphill area and the surrounding countryside.
The lap is just short of eight miles long and ends with the 160 entrants attacking the gruelling 1 in 6 climb up the cobbled streets of Michaelgate.
