An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and organised manager to join this large and progressive charity. Making a difference in the lives of people across the county for over 100 years, YMCA Lincolnshire’s varied work includes providing over 120 units of accommodation including a 21 bed emergency night shelter. Other areas of work include; a warehouse project for furniture refurbishment for sale in one of our 3 charity shops, 2 nurseries, a training department as well as a Climbing Centre, Youth Activity Centre and Conference and Events Centre.
This brand new position has been developed for a dynamic and outcome focused individual to drive forward the operations of conferencing and youth services within The Showroom. A key position within the management structure, the Operations Manager will seek to lead this incredible facility into a new season of growth and development.
Position: Operations Manager – The Showroom, Lincoln
Salary: c. £25,000 pa
Hours per week: 37.5 per week including evenings & weekends.

The Operations Manager will successfully manage the day to day operations of The Showroom departments including the Youth Activity Centre, Climbing Wall and Conference Centre. A key focus will be to develop a team that deliver world class service through all provision across all departments. The Operations Manager will be fully responsible for the budgetary management, event and activity planning and delivery, health and safety, data reporting and statutory compliance. They will also be expected to actively seek out and maximise all revenue and development opportunities and ensure the teams have the skills and support to do the same.
Due to the nature of the hospitality and youth work industry this position would occasionally involve working weekends and evenings dependant on the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on manager with a dynamic attitude towards innovation, problem solving and the ability to build and maintain effective teams.
The role is diverse, creating new challenges and experiences each day. The successful candidate will be flexible, able to make decisions under pressure and driven to achieve the outcomes of The Showroom: to make a real difference in the lives of the people in our city.
About The Showroom
The Showroom is a unique building with a unique Ideology. A YMCA Lincolnshire project, The Showroom effectively combines commercial enterprise with social impact. As a MyPlace Centre, one if it’s core functions is to provide leading youth services within a state of the art building. The provision seeks to deliver a variety of youth activity including; sports clubs such as Climbing, Dodgeball and Parkour. Other activity includes schools support working with students at risk of exclusion or NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training), as well as a range of support networks including LGBTQ and Mental Health. The Showroom works alongside some of the most vulnerable young people in our city in order to build a brighter foundation for their future.
In order to support the financial sustainability of this youth provision; The Showroom provides high quality Conferencing and Catering. With new investment in a newly refurbished café bar just opening, this is an exciting time to join the team. Any surplus generated through this area of the business is used to support the work the charity does with young people and the homeless of Lincoln. It is a genuinely life changing role whether it is a youth worker engaging directly with a young person, or a conference team member providing excellent service that ultimately pays for the youth work. This model ensures all team members, irrespective of their department, understands that their efforts have a far reaching impact over and above their immediate area of work.
