Three firms from Lincoln have been shortlisted for awards in the competitive East Midlands International Business Awards 2010.
Companies from across the region applied for the seven categories on the awards, which are thought to boost staff morale as well as being a mark of quality.
The three firms are Househam Sprayers Ltd (pictured), Cool Milk EU Developments Ltd and Dynex Semiconductor Ltd.
Househam Sprayers were nominated for International Business Communications Award. The company designs, manufactures and supplies agricultural and crop sprayers worldwide.
Cool Milk EU Developments is running for the Innovative Exporter award. It provides management and marketing support to help get milk into European schools.
Dynex Semiconductor has been shortlisted for the Established Exporter award. The business’ products are used to improve electrical energy in power generation and distribution systems worldwide.
UKTI’s East Midlands International Trade Director Peter Hogarth said: “We’ve been delighted with the record number of applications this year, particularly as the standard has been exceptionally high throughout, making the shortlisting selection very, very tough.
“It’s encouraging that so many of our local businesses have continued to grow, by maximising overseas sales which is so vital to the economic recovery.
“We also noted that they were several applicants who were relatively new to business, yet were succeeding overseas.
“This shows that the traditional view of having to build your domestic market first to give a strong foundation on which to build exports is not always the case – some firms are now born to be global.”
The winners will be announced on December 3 at a lunch in The Priest House, Castle Donington in Derby.
