Match report
Goals from Delroy Facey, Ben Hutchinson and Mustapha Carayol propelled Lincoln City to their second consecutive league victory.
The visitors Hereford United did manage to pull a goal back after half time, but by then the outcome looked inevitable.
Even a disallowed goal from centre back Adam Watts couldn’t hold the Red and Whites back. City dominated the 1st half creating numerous chances with Delroy Facey coming close to scoring on two occasions.
Captain Scott Kerr led by example and pulled off an exemplary display in the centre of midfield alongside Josh O’Keefe.
Views from the Stacey West stand
Mark McCormack
Season ticket holder Mark McCormack said: “Really good game, first game this season where I haven’t had to worry about us losing. We looked superb. Scott Kerr was easily the man of the match and pulled all the strings for us. Onwards and upwards.”
Craig Harvey
Stacey West regular Craig Harvey said: “Best home game that I have seen this season, good attacking play by our two frontmen, exactly what we wanted and what we needed.”
Ryan Chambers
University student and lifelong Imps fan Ryan Chambers said: “Amazing, one of the best performances of the season by far, especially at home. Scott Kerr was on top form today and dictated the play well, Ben Hutchinson looked a lot more lively too.”
Billy Jarish
Young Imps fan and Stacey West regular Billy Jarish said: “Basically excellent home game, best so far in my books. Hopefully more if the same on Tuesday against Bury!”
Dean Burley
Twitterer and Imps fan Dean Burley said: “Best 90 minutes of Lincoln City football I have seen in 18 months coupled with the outstanding performance last week at Morecambe can only mean that Steve Tilson has got it right.”
Player ratings
Joe Anyon 6
Safe hands throughout along, with good distribution. Shame about the goal.
Jamie Clapham 6
Typically industrious performance from the left back. Little to do against poor wingers.
Adam Watts 7
Commanding performance from the centre back, unlucky to have goal disallowed.
Dan Gowling 7
Looks comfortable at this level and works well with Watts.
Gavin Hoyte 6
Dealt with what came his way well, could have done more going forward, but defensively stable.
Albert Jarret 7
Had a good game if not a little inconsistent, pacey runs worried Hereford full backs.
Scott Kerr 8
Easily the best player on the pitch practically ran the game and deserved a goal.
Josh O’Keefe 7
Played well alongside Kerr, made some important passes.
Mustapha Carayol 8
Was a constant worry to the opposing full-backs and took his goal well.
Ben Hutchinson 7
His best showing at Sincil Bank, early goal provided the setting for the good performance.
Delroy Facey 7
Typically hard working and won a lot in the air as expected. Could have scored more than one goal though.
