Lincoln parks set kids’ events for half term

Half term: Hartsholme County Park and the Arboretum are promising fresh air and a riddance of any boredom at half term.

Two city parks are organising events for kids at half term, promising both parents and kids fresh air and a riddance of any boredom.

Hartsholme County Park will hold its event on Tuesday, February 22, while the Arboretum on Monks Road on Thursday, February 24.

Hartsholme County Park is organising Clay Creations next Tuesday, from 1pm to 3pm, costing £3.20 per child (booking is essential).

Children can take a walk around the park with the rangers, trying to spot some of the wildlife that lives there.

On their travels, children can collect natural products to enhance their clay models and recreate the things they’ve seen back at the Visitor Centre (pictured).

The Arboretum is holding Bird Feeder Making sessions next Thursday, a free event taking place at the bandstand between 11am and 3pm.

Kids can make their own feeders to hang in the garden and help native birds to thrive during the winter.

Lisa Blezzard, Park Ranger at Hartsholme Country Park, said: “We run a range of events to encourage more and more people to visit the country park and to enjoy the green space within Lincoln’s boundary.

“Each year Hartsholme Country Park hosts lots of fantastic events, such as guided walks, activities for children and family fun days, which are all very popular.

“These events are an ideal chance to discover new places, to walk and encourage children to enjoy and appreciate their surroundings.”

Children must be accompanied by an adult at both events.
