Police end sexual assault investigation

Sexual assault: Police stopped investigating the reported sexual assault of a 19-year-old local woman.

— Later update: As a result of further conversations with the alleged victim carried out by specialist officers, Lincolnshire Police say they are no longer investigating this incident as a criminal offence.


Police in Lincoln are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman from a village outside Lincoln.

The incident took place in the alley at St Peter at Arches off High Street, Lincoln and was reported on May 18 at about 1:20am.

The alley runs down the side of Cafe Nero, past the public toilets and emerges on to Silver Street near the Zucchini restaurant.

The victim has been spoken to and will be interviewed by specialist officers later today after she has had a period of rest.

The offender is described as a white man aged around 18 to 20 years, slim build, with short brown spikey hair. He was wearing a white or light blue tee shirt and jeans.

A cordon is in place at what is believed to be the scene whilst a forensic examination is being carried out.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the alley or who may have any suggestions as to the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Lincoln CID via 0300 111 0300 quoting incident number 11.
