La Trattoria Da Vincenzo, a new authentic Italian restaurant, opened its doors on July 5, on West Parade.
The eatery serves traditional recipes that are made with fresh ingredients.
The restaurant has two dining rooms and also seating outside in the courtyard. The menu includes pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes.
The restaurant is a Victorian town house and still retains a number of its original period features. The drinks cabinet inside dates back to the 1900’s and was left in the house when it was purchased.
Vincenzo Tragni, Head chef and co-owner, said: “All the dishes are traditional recipes handed down from my mother, I and my assistant chef Edoardo cook everything using fresh ingredients.
“I wanted a traditional family restaurant and offer an authentic Italian experience for my customers that you would find in my home town in southern Italy.
“I recommend that people looking to eat here book in advance as seating is limited.”
Vincenzo, who previously owned the nearby Italian cafe La Bottega Delitalia, started the business with a friend after he heard of his plans.
Co-owner Peter Downes said: “Vincenzo is a good friend of mine and when I heard that he was renovating a Victorian town house the opportunity presented itself to create a new restaurant.
“Our only advertising currently is word of mouth and we have had around 50 customers in the three days we have been open.”
To book a table, you can call the restuarant on 01522 519050 — La Trattoria Da Vincenzo is currently open from 5:30 till late on weekdays.
