Police search North Hykeham tobacco thief

Stolen tobacco: Information is wanted on an offender possibly linked to thefts from convenience shops in the area.

Police are appealing for information after a thief broke into a North Hykeham shop, stealing from the cigarette counter.

The incident happened at around 11.40pm on August 29 at Spar on Newark Road.

The offender broke in by smashing a window, then got into the cigarette counter, stealing a quantity of tobacco products.

The offender is believed to be male, wearing a dark coloured hooded top. He left the shop in a dark coloured car.

Police are investigating the possibility that the burglary could be linked to an incident at another Spar in the county the night before.

The similar incident happened at Spar on the High Street, Bassingham, on August 28.

Offenders broke in through doors, but fled after being alarmed by the shop’s security system, leaving empty handed.

The group are believed to have fled in a green Rover 25, which was stolen from a house on Thurlby Road, Bassingham.
