— Update on March 9 @ 1pm Adrian Johnson (25) of Yarborough Road was jailed for three months by Lincoln magistrates on March 8 in relation to the theft of a bike in the city on February 27.
He also asked for three other bike thefts to be taken into consideration.
Insp Mark Garthwaite said: “Bike theft is a real issue in the city and it is great to see the courts sending out a very clear message to those engaged in this kind of activity.The police will arrest you and you do face jail.”
Lincolnshire Police now have a dedicated full-time officer that directly deals with bike theft in the city, in an effort to stamp out this type of crime.

Adrian Johnson (25) of Yarborough Road and Wayne John Rayner (26) of Yarborough Road, have both been arrested and charged with the theft of a bike in relation to the incident.
They are suspected of stealing women’s mountain bike, worth about £570, by cutting the lock with bolt croppers.
Johnson was remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court today and Rayner was bailed to appear at Magistrates Court on March 23.
In an ongoing effort to curb increasing bike thefts in Lincoln, a 25-year-old man from Lincoln was separately charged with handling stolen goods in relation to a bike theft earlier this week as well.
Adrian Johnson of Yarborough Road was charged on March 5 with handling stolen goods in relation to a red Coyote mountain bike, which was stolen from Lincoln Bus Station on February 25.
