Two men arrested over stab murder in Lincoln

Murder investigation: Police are treating the death of a man in Lincoln as murder and have made two arrests.

Two men have been arrested after a 44-year-old man died of a single stab wound to the chest in Lincoln on Saturday, April 14.

The men, aged 32 and 38, of no fixed address, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are currently in police custody pending interview.

The incident happened at around 5.55am on Saturday on Portland Street.

Ambulance crews attended a call and treated the man, but he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination has revealed that the man suffered a single stab wound to the chest.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, as Detective Chief Inspector Phil Cox from East Midlands Major Crime Special Operations Unit is leading the enquiry.

He said: “We are renewing appeals for anyone who was in the vicinity of Great Northern Terrace and Broadgate Bridge leading to Witham Park in the hours leading up to 6am on Saturday morning.

“Did you see anyone in the area that morning or witness anything that struck you as suspicious or unusual?

“Any information, however small, may be important and we ask that you contact us in confidence by calling Lincolnshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in complete anonymity, on 0800 555 111.”
