A flat on Welton Gardens in the Ermine, Lincoln, has been severely damaged in a fire on Sunday, August 19.

Emergency services were called at Westminster House at around 5.20pm on Sunday to attend the maisonette on fire.

Ten flats in the building were evacuated.

Five fire engines attended the scene to tackle the blaze, with assistance from police and ambulance.

Initial reports indicate that no one was injured, but a pet dog appears to have perished in the blaze.

At this stage it is still unclear what caused the fire. An update is expected later on Monday morning.

The City Council has boarded up the property.
