A 24-year-old local man was arrested after a dog died in a fire at a flat on Welton Gardens, Lincoln, on Sunday, August 19.
As previously reported, emergency services attended a fire at Westminster House at around 5.20pm on Sunday.
Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze and the occupant was unhurt. A dog died in the fire, police confirmed.
Officers arrested a 24-year-old local man a short time later. He is currently being questioned. Police are treating the incident as arson.
Officers are not looking for any other suspects, but they are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
