Lincoln Paralympian and Vice Chancellor in New Year Honours list

Recognition: Gold-medal winning Lincoln Paralympian Sophie Wells and Bishop Grosseteste University Vice Chancellor Muriel Robinson have been recognised in the 2013 New Year Honours list.

Gold-medal winning Lincoln Paralympian Sophie Wells and Bishop Grosseteste University Vice Chancellor Muriel Robinson have been recognised in the 2013 New Year Honours list.

Sophie Wells (22) has been appointed an MBE for her role in Great Britain’s equestrian team gold medal performance at London 2012, where she also won two individual silver medals in the dressage competition.

Muriel Robinson, Vice-Chancellor at Bishop Grosseteste University was also honoured with an OBE for services to higher education following the fast development of the institution this year.

  • Barry Buxton: For services to the community in Ropsley, Lincolnshire
  • Jean Curtis: For services to the community in Coningsby, Lincolnshire
  • James Dixon: For services to the community in Lincolnshire
  • Margaret Jessop: For charitable services in Boston, Lincolnshire
  • Geoffrey Winter: For services to Music and to the community in Grantham, Lincolnshire
  • Ernest Wyer: For services to the community in Morton and Hanthorpe, Lincolnshire
  • Dr Cheryle Berry: For services to education, health and charity in Lincolnshire and Derbyshire
