Second church in Lincoln burgled

Church burglary: Another church in Lincoln has been burgled, with cash stolen from collection boxes.

A second church in Lincoln has been burgled in less than a week.

The incident happened at Our Lady of Lincoln Church in Laughton Way in Lincoln, at around 5am on April 8.

It is thought the offenders broke in then used cutting equipment to attempt to break into a safe, but they were unsuccessful.

The thieves then stole a quantity of cash from collection boxes.

This is the second burglary of a church in Lincoln in the past week – between March 25-28 St Peter in Eastgate was also burgled.

Items are estimated to be worth several thousand pounds were stolen from St Peter in Eastgate, including four metal chandeliers and a large brass lectern, the size of which would have required two people to lift it.

Lincolnshire Police are asking anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area or have any information regarding the burglary, to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
