Lincoln Independents Day

Showcasing local trade An event held on the Brayford and at shops in the city highlighted Lincoln’s offering of independent businesses.

July 4 wasn’t only a celebration across the Atlantic to commemorate Independence Day, but also Lincoln’s chance to highlight its great independent retailers.

Organised by Lincoln BIG, the event along the Brayford waterfront celebrated the city’s numerous independent shops, cafes and bars, as well as the county’s links to the USA. Visitors could watch American activities including cheerleaders, classic cars and skateboarders, plus enjoy live music.

Shops also held a number of their own events and offers throughout the day, plus stayed open until 7pm as part of Alive After Five. Shoppers were attracted to the shops and cafes around the uphill area with the help of free parking between 3pm and 7pm.

The event finished with a fireworks display on the Brayford.
