Sixth person arrested in Lincoln in murder case of Latvian man

Sixth arrest: A total of five men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of Latvian man Vasilijs Ransevs, who was found dead at his house on Portland Street.

A sixth person has been arrested in connection with the murder of Latvian man Vasilijs Ransevs, who was found dead at his house on Portland Street in Lincoln in June.

A 19-year-old local man was arrested on Tuesday night, after officers arrested another 22-year-old local man in the morning of July 23. They are both in police custody.

On Monday, police also arrested 29-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, a 17-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder.

Vasilijs Ransevs (33) was originally from Latvia. He had been living in Lincoln for about two years and lived in Peterborough before that.

He was found dead in a bedsit on Portland Street just before midday on Sunday, June 16. Post mortem analysis revealed he died of a head injury.

Detective Superintendent Stuart Morrison said: “Local officers will be patrolling the Portland Street area and anyone with any concerns, or anyone who wants to pass on any information should approach them and talk to them.”
