Lincoln fundraisers get ready for first ever Sport Relief Mile

Lincoln joins the race: Yarborough Leisure Centre is getting ready to host the city’s first Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.

As the national 2014 Sport Relief fundraising event looms, Active Nation’s Yarborough Leisure Centre is preparing to host Lincoln’s first Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.

On Sunday, March 23, charity runners and walkers will set off from the leisure centre off Riseholme Road, Lincoln, at 10.30am.

Hundreds of participants are expected to take part, with the choice of completing one, three or six mile courses.

You can now apply to take part in the event and gather sponsors at the Sport Relief website.

Money raised will transform the lives of people living in the UK and some of the world’s poorest countries.

Stuart Blackbourn from Yarborough Leisure Centre said: “This is the first time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Lincoln, so let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do.

“There will be plenty of activities on the day so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too!

“While you’re at the centre, why not call in and see what we have got going on as part of the day? There will be lots to do and see.

“As a charity our mission is all about persuading the nation to be active. What better way is there to do this than at events like the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile?”

On March 21, you can tune into BBC’s night of Sport Relief TV, with celebrity performances and comedy sketches such as an Only Fools and Horses special with Del Boy and Rodney plus Sport Relief Does Strictly.
