Roman Lincoln reborn with new history trail

Roman trail: Roman Lincoln has been brought to life with a new interactive trail through the city, and you can dive into the secrets of the city like never before.

Ever wanted to explore thriving Lindum Colonia? Roman Lincoln has been brought to life with a new interactive trail through the city, and you can dive into the secrets of the city like never before.

In a new walk and app devised by the Visit Lincoln Partnership and Lincoln BIG, tourists and shoppers can tap into digital technologies to learn more of Lincoln’s past.

The Digital Roman Trail is being launched on Saturday, May 17 (Lindum Colonia Day) and will be available online and from smartphones.

Explorers can also pick up a printed version of the trail from the city’s Visitor Information Centre in Castle Hill. Copies cost £1.

The Roman trail features information and views of how Lincoln looked 1,600 years ago.

The trail itself spans along a route which takes in the upper Roman city and also includes details of other Roman landmarks further south.

In addition to the launch of the trail, the weekend of May 17 and 18 will see many Roman-linked activities across the city, giving people a flavour of what life was like 1,600 years ago.

Lindum Colonia Day will offer lots of fun activities for all the family, including a Roamn camp at Lincoln Castle and special guided tours.

Lincoln BIG Chief Executive Matt Corrigan said: “The Visit Lincoln Partnership and BIG are proud to have worked together to produce this exciting new trail.

“We hope it will prove to be fun and informative for our first-time and repeat visitors and also encourage local people to discover more about our amazing city.”

Businesses that are keen to offer deals over the weekend, are urged to email Lincoln BIG’s Joel Murray on [email protected].
