Lincoln council tenants panel needs more members

Get involved: Council tenants in Lincoln can join a panel to help improve the way the properties are managed.

Council tenants in Lincoln can join a panel to help improve the way the properties are managed.

The Lincoln Tenants Panel is a form of scrutiny of City of Lincoln Council’s landlord functions and services.

It holds monthly meetings lasting two to three hours, and no experience of how district councils work is needed – training and assistance is provided.

The areas that now need filling on the panel are:

  • Birchwood (two seats)
  • Moorland (two seats)
  • Bracebridge/Manse
  • West End
  • Newport/Burton Road
  • Leaseholder

Paula Cade, Resident Involvement Manager for the City Council, said: “We want to encourage tenants from all areas of the city to get involved and are keen to fill the vacant seats on the panel.

“It is important that we have a city-wide panel as tenants experiences of our service may differ depending on where they live.

“We also want to encourage younger tenants to come forward to ensure their voice is being heard.”

Brian Botham, who represents Stamp End on Lincoln Tenants Panel, added: “I got involved in LTP to try to help our tenants get things done in the area.

“What I enjoy about being on the panel is seeing the varied things that happen at the council and what is done for our tenants.

“LTP benefits tenants because we can see what is going on, get a say in all things that matter to us and the council has to listen to us.”
