Your pictures: Lincoln double rainbow

Phenomenon: Residents sent The Lincolnite pictures of the double rainbow over Lincoln last night — here are our favourites.

Many Lincoln residents took to the streets or their windows last night to grab images of the sunset and double rainbow over the city.

The double rainbow appeared over the city on July 17 at around 9pm, just before sunset at 9.18pm.

A double rainbow is visible when light is reflected twice in a complicated pattern, while a single rainbow can be observed when light reflects off a raindrop.

The double rainbow was observed across the county, with submissions from Gainsborough and Grantham also.

Here are just a few of our favourite reader submissions of the night.
