The first Lincoln park and bike scheme has been launched in a mission to encourage commuters to bike into the city centre.
Lincolnshire County Council’s Access LN6 team launched two scheme locations: Skellingthorpe Community Centre car park on Lincoln Road, and in the visitor’s car park at Burton Waters marina.
The locations, which have their own hirebike stations, have been identified as park and bike sites where commuters can park their cars before using their own bikes, or rentals.
Councillor Richard Davies, Executive Councillor for Highways and Transportation at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We are proud to launch the first official park and bike scheme in Lincoln, and hope that the two sites in Skellingthorpe and at Burton Waters will be successful in encouraging more people to cycle to work.”
Those wanting to use the site at Burton Waters must first obtain a parking permit from the Burton Waters on-site security office, whilst commuters can simply park at Skellingthorpe Community Centre straight away.
