Lincolnshire County Council has revealed that over 10,000 drivers in Lincoln were handed parking fines in the last 10 months.
The report showed 10,532 penalty charge notices were issued to motorists in the city from April 1 last year to the end of January 2015.
Lincoln accounted for over a third of all charges issued in the county. In total, the county council handed out 29,488 parking fines in the period.
Parking on single and double yellow lines was the most common reason for issuing a penalty charge, with just over 10,000 motorists fined for this offence.
Other popular parking offences included parking longer than permitted and parking in a residents’ space.
1675 drivers were issued penalty notices for the wrong class of vehicle and 1643 motorists were caught out not parking correctly in a bay.
Of the nearly 30,000 penalty charge notices issued in Lincolnshire, 2203 were overturned.
