Campaign to reduce bike crime in Lincoln as thefts spike

Increased efforts: Lincolnshire Police have launched a new initiative to encourage cyclists to remember to lock their bikes as thefts rise in Lincoln city centre.

Lincolnshire Police have launched a new initiative to encourage cyclists to remember to lock their bikes as thefts rise in Lincoln city centre.

Police analysis indicates that bike thefts traditionally increase over the summer months, peaking in June and July before returning to normal levels at the end of August.

The highest volume of these thefts occurs in Lincoln Centre and from public places rather than homes.

To address this, the force will be putting up temporary signs in the city centre reminding people how to make sure their bikes are secure.

More information can be found on Lincolnshire Police’s website. Keep up-to-date with the progress of the scheme on Twitter by searching for #LockYourBike.
