North Hykeham by-election to be held tomorrow after councillor resignation

A total of five candidates are standing in a council by-election in North Hykeham on July 30.

North Kesteven District Council called a by-election earlier this month in the Mill Ward following the resignation of Councillor Jill Wilson due to ill health.

Polls open tomorrow from 7am to 10pm at The Ark on Moor Lane, with 3,742 people eligible to vote in the election.


The candidates standing are:

  • Elizabeth Saffron Bathory Porter – Green Party
  • John Bishop – Hykeham Independents
  • Diana Catton – Liberal Democrats
  • Mike Clarke – Conservative Party
  • Terence Peter Dooley – Labour Party

The Mill Ward covers the southern parts of North Hykeham, roads leading from Mill Lane and homes to the east of Newark Road.

The count will take place straight after the poll in The Ark. Attendance is strictly limited to candidates, their guests, and counting agents.

The results are expected to be declared at around 11.30pm.
